Shantel Smith

(Director of Communications)

Before joining our firm, Shantel worked directly with senators and their staff, through Senate Communications, in developing and maintaining constituent relations and publications, as well as building communications with members of the Legislature, press corps and public entities.

Prior to her political experience, Shantel was enlisted in the United States Marines after her graduation from Helias Catholic High School. During her time in service, Shantel worked in Motor Transportation where she was responsible for operating and maintaining tactical military and commercial vehicles. This included performing distribution management in transporting people, resources, equipment and supplies throughout all units within the Marine Air-Ground Task Force in support of combat and garrison operations.

The vehicles she maintained and operated included: High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), also known as Humvees, 7-ton trucks and Abrams 70-ton tanks. Through this field she was involved in many aspects of mechanical and logistical support throughout the military.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines, Shantel attended the University of Missouri where she obtained her bachelors degree in English, with an emphasis on Journalistic Studies. She also received an associates degree in Business Marketing.

Shantel found her passion for communications and the political world during her internship with Learfield Communications. Following her graduation from the University of Missouri, Shantel began working with Zimmer Radio and Marketing Group. During her employment, she was involved with numerous talk radios, further driving her passion to transition into the political world. She eventually moved to the Missouri State Senate, where she developed vital skills valuable to Flotron & McIntosh.

Shantel is knowledgeable in the legislative and political process. She represents a wealth of knowledge and vibrant experience to the Flotron & McIntosh team. Her passion and drive in the political world is of an equal measure with our firm. Her contributions further excel the firm’s ability to successfully represent our client’s needs.
